Women's Basketball Halts Neumann, Extends Winning Streak to Ten

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Carly Coleman registered her fifth double-double of the season scoring 21 points and pulled down 16 rebounds leading Immaculata to a 63-44 win over Neumann on Wednesday evening. Coleman scored 10 points in the third quarter, and five points in the fourth quarter leading a second half surge for Immaculata.
 
The win was the Mighty Macs 10th consecutive win, and Immaculata improves to 17-3 overall, and 7-0 in the Atlantic East Conference play. Immaculata has now secured the Atlantic East Conference Regular Season Title, and the first seed in the AEC Tournament. With the loss Neumann falls to 13-8 overall, and 4-3 in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
NCAA.com announced their first regional rankings of the season on Tuesday, and Immaculata earned their first regional ranking as number seven in Region Five with a ranking score of 55.161.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Immaculata took an early 3-0 lead as Carly Coleman scored on a layup and Reese Mullins hit a foul shot. After some early sloppy play by both teams, Neumann scored 13 consecutive points to lead 13-3 with 3:46 remaining. Meg Robbins and Alyssa Long scored on layups as Immaculata trailed 13-9 after one quarter of play.
  • In the second quarter, Abigail Boyer scored on a driving layup while drawing a foul and hit the and one shot to complete the three-point play. Immaculata would follow with layups from Carly Coleman, Reese Mullins, and Riley Cassidy to take a 18-16 lead with 6:01 remaining in the second quarter. Coleman, Boyer, and Mullins each hit a pair of free throws as Immaculata took a lead they would not surrender at 26-24. Olivia Ettorre scored late in the quarter on a layup as Immaculata took a 33-27 lead into the halftime break.
  • In the third quarter, Reese Mullins got Immaculata started with a layup early. Olivia Ettorre and Tessa Lilberatoscioll each scored on layup to put Immaculata up 39-29 with 7:37 remaining in the quarter. Carly Coleman then scored 10 consecutive points for Immaculata as they increased their lead to 49-33 with 4:10 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata would take a 51-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, Tessa Liberatoscioli and Carly Coleman scored on early layups for Immaculata. Riley Cassidy would hit a pair of free throws and a three-pointer as Immaculata would go on to close out the win 63-44.

  • Carly Coleman registered her fifth double-double of the season scoring 21 points, while pulling down a career-high 16 rebounds with two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Coleman scored 10 consecutive points for Immaculata in a 2:34 stretch in the third quarter and was a plus 12 in the game.
  • Reese Mullins scored 14 points, with eight rebounds, and three steals. Mullins was a plus 12 in the game. Mullins has now eclipsed the 500 career rebound mark with 501 career rebounds.
  • Riley Cassidy scored nine points, with two rebounds, and was a plus eight in the game.
  • Abigail Boyer scored seven points, with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Olivia Ettorre scored six points, with two rebounds, and two assists. Ettorre was a plus 14 in the game.
  • Tessa Liberatoscioli scored four points, with six rebounds, all defensive rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot, and five steals. She was a game-high plus 17.
  • Alyssa Long provided strong play and floor leadership off the bench with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal while being a plus seven for the game.
  • Meg Robbins scored two points, with four rebounds, and two blocked shots off the bench.

  • Neumann shot 28.1% (16-57) from the field, 30% (6-20) from behind the arc, and 75% (6-8) from the stripe. They scored 10 second chance points, 18 points in the paint, and seven points off turnovers.
