Baseball Falls to Shenandoah in Opening Game of the Mr. V Classic

WINCHESTER, Va.- The Immaculata baseball team fell to the host Shenandoah 22-4 in their opening game of the Mr. V Classic. Sal Serici went 3-4 for Immaculata with a double and one RBI for Immaculata. Freshman Ryan Nance had his first collegiate hit a single in the sixth inning, and first college RBI on a ground out in the seventh inning. Alex LePage (0-2) took the loss for Immaculata. 

With the loss Immaculata falls to 0-4 overall on the season. With the win Shenandoah improves to 7-2 overall on the season.

How it Happened 

  • Shenandoah scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning with five hits and took advantage of three errors by Immaculata to lead 10-0 after one inning of play. 

  • Immaculata got on the board in the top of the second inning when Sal Serici doubled to left center to score Maddox Stern

  • Shenandoah went back to work on offense in the bottom of the second inning scoring five runs, on three hits and another Immaculata error to extend their lead to 15-1. 

  • Shenandoah would add three additional runs in the third, one more in the fifth and three in the sixth. 

  • Immaculata scored three runs in the top of the seventh when Joey Steff drew a bases-loaded walk to score Luke Hardnock. Will Kelley walked with the bases loaded to score Patrick Arnold. Ryan Nance grounded out to second base to score Karl Wissman. The game would end after seven innings. 

Beyond the Box Score 

  • Luke Hardnock went 1-1 with a double for his first college hit. 

Up Next 

  • Immaculata will be back in action for their final two games of the Mr. V Classic on Saturday. They play Wittenberg at 9:00 a.m., and play Corland at 12:15 p.m.
