Baseball Drops a Pair of Games at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday

CAMDEN, N.J.- The Immaculata baseball team opened their 2025 season falling to Rutger-Camden in both games of their doubleheader at the Camden Athletic Complex on Saturday. Catcher Robert Woodward led the Immaculata going 4-8 across both games, with three runs scored, a double, a triple, a home run, and three RBIs. Steven Theisen was 3-9, with a double and two RBIs. 

GAME 1: Rutgers-Camden 11, Immaculata 4 

How it Happened  

  • Rutgers-Camden opened the scoring with a single run in the bottom of the second inning and extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to take a 4-0 lead. 

  • Rutgers-Camden added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 6-1. 

  • Immaculata got their second run in the top of the sixth when Steven Theisen doubled down the leftfield line to score Sal Serici

  • The Scarlet Raptors added two runs in the seventh, and three runs in the eighth to take an 11-2 lead. 

Behind the Box Score 

  • Robert Woodward went 2-4, with two runs scored, a home run and two RBIs for Immaculata. 

  • Steven Theisen went 2-4, with one run scored, a double, and an RBI. 

  • Alex LePage took the loss for Immaculata, pitching four innings, allowing five earned runs, with seven strikeouts. 

GAME 2: Rutgers-Camden 10, Immaculata 6 

How it Happened  

  • Immaculata opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Matt Passerini hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Sal Serici to give Immaculata a 1-0 lead. 

  • Rutgers-Camden responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the third taking a 4-1 lead. 

  • Rutgers-Camden increased its lead to 6-2 scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

  • Rutgers-Camden scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, and added another run in the bottom of the eighth as they would win game two 10-6. 

Behind the Box Score 

  • Starter John Fitzpatrick went three innings, allowing four earned on four hits. He had three strikeouts.

  • The Immaculata baseball team will be back in action on Wednesday, February 26th when they visit Kean University for a 3:30 p.m. game.
