Women's Basketball Defeats Marywood 79-47 in Regular Season Finale

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Riley Cassidy led all scorers with a career-high 21 points, and Carly Coleman registered her sixth double-double of the season as Immaculata defeated Marywood 79-47 at Alumnae Hall. With the win Immaculata extended their winning streak to 13 games to close the regular season.
 
Immaculata improves to 20-3 overall and finish the regular season 10-0 in Atlantic East Conference play. With the loss Marywood falls to 12-13 overall, and to 3-7 in Atlantic East Conference play. Marywood will finish the season as the fifth seed and will face Centenary in the AEC Tournament first round on Monday.
 
With their 20th win of the season, Immaculata becomes the first Immaculata women's basketball team to reach 20 wins in a season since the 1976-77 team coached by Cathy Rush went 26-6 reaching the AIAW Final Four. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tessa Liberatoscioli got Immaculata on the board with a driving layup, and Olivia Ettorre followed with a three-pointer as Immaculata took an early 5-2 lead. Riley Cassidy came off the bench and hit a pair of free throws, and scored on a layup as Immaculata extended their lead to 14-4 with 3:20 remaining in the quarter. Carly Coleman scored on a layup with 0:06 remaining in the quarter as Immaculata led 20-5 after one quarter of play.
  • Riley Cassidy scored on a layup early in the second quarter, then hit a pair of three-pointers as Immaculata increased their lead to 30-12. Abigail Boyer scored on a layup, and Reese Mullins scored on two layups late in the quarter as Immaculata took a 39-12 lead into the halftime break.
  • In the third quarter, Olivia Ettorre and Tessa Liberatoscioli scored early on layups as Immaculata kept the pressure on Marywood. Carly Coleman scored on a rebound and put back, and Riley Cassidy hit another three-pointer as Immaculata upped their lead to 54-18. Cassiday would score on a layup and scored on a jumper, and Julia Pohl scored on a tip in as Immaculata would lead 62-28 after three quarters.
  • In the fourth quarter, Emma Wagner hit a jumper and followed with a three-pointer for Immaculata. Marywood would not go quietly as the scored 19 points in the fourth quarter. Julia Pohl scored on a jumper, and Katie McGuigan scored on a layup for her first collegiate points. Cassidy Perri hit a three-pointer and Victoria Foster hit a jumper as Immaculata would close out the win 79-47.

  • Riley Cassidy scored a career-high 21 points, shooting 8-11 from the field, 3-5 from behind the arc, and was 2-2 at the stripe, with one rebound, and one steal.
  • Carly Coleman registered her sixth double-double of the season scoring 17 points, pulling down 12 rebounds, with one assist, one blocked shot, and two steals.
  • Reese Mullins scored six points, with seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
  • Tessa Liberatoscioli scored six points, with two rebounds, three assists, and four steals in only 13 minutes on the floor.
  • Olivia Ettorre scored five points, with two rebounds, one assist, a blocked shot, and one steal.
  • Emma Wagner scored five points, with two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

  • Marywood shot 30.5% (18-59) from the field, 28% (7-25) from behind the arc, and 80% (4-5) from the stripe. Marywood scored 11 second chance points, 16 points in the paint, and seven points off turnovers.
  • The score was tied one time, and there were no lead changes in the game.
