Women's Basketball Falls to Arcadia, 72-66 For First Home Loss Since Feb. 2024

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's basketball team fell 72–66 to Arcadia on Wednesday night at Alumnae Hall, ending the Mighty Macs' 15-game home winning streak. The loss marks Immaculata's first defeat on its home court since the Atlantic East Conference Semifinal vs. Neumann on February 21, 2024.
 
Abby Grillo led Immaculata with 17 points—going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc—while adding five steals. Julia Pohl delivered a breakout performance, recording her first career double-double with 10 points and a game-high-tying 12 rebounds.
 
With the loss, Immaculata drops to 2–1 on the season. Arcadia improves to 3–1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED VS ARCADIA
  • Immaculata jumped out to a 6–0 lead behind six early points from Carly Coleman.
  • Arcadia trimmed the deficit to 9–5 before Abby Grillo responded with a three-pointer and a fast-break layup. A late basket from Pohl helped the Mighty Macs take a 16–9 lead after the first quarter.
  • Early in the second quarter, Grillo connected on another three and Meg Robbins scored in the paint, extending the lead to 21–11 with 9:13 left.
  • Arcadia answered with a 14–3 run to take its first lead of the game, 25–24, with 3:58 remaining.
  • Julia Pohl scored on a layup and later knocked down a 18-foot jumper off a pass from Meg Robbins to give Immaculata a 33–28 advantage with 41 seconds left, but Arcadia scored twice—including a buzzer-beating layup—to cut the lead to 33–32 at halftime.
  • Coleman and Grillo scored early in the third to push the lead to 37–32 before Arcadia responded again, taking a 47–43 lead with 2:41 left in the quarter. Pohl's late layup brought Immaculata within 47–45 heading into the fourth.
  • Robbins opened the final quarter with back-to-back baskets to make it 50–49.
  • Arcadia eventually stretched its lead to 61–54 with 3:17 remaining.
  • Immaculata made one final push as Olivia Ettorre drilled a three-pointer, Coleman hit a jumper, and Grillo knocked down a step-back three to trim the deficit to 67–64 with 41 seconds left.
  • Arcadia closed out the game at the line and secured the 72–66 victory.

The Mighty Macs face Kean on Saturday at 3 p.m. They will return to action on Sunday in either the Consolation or Championship Game at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. against Lehman or Salisbury.
