Men's Soccer Unable to Overcome Neumann Knights

ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata men's soccer were tied at the half with the Neumann University Knights on Wednesday, but the Knights' offense found a rhythm in the second half to give them a 4-1 win.

The Mighty Macs are 2-11-2 for the season. They are 1-2-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NEUMANN
  • The Knights broke the opening tie within three minutes. The Mighty Macs had multiple corner kicks, and a shot attempt by Anthony Fitch, but they could not find the back of the net. In the 21st minute, Michael Prall tied the score on an Anthony Fitch assist. Luca Greppellini recorded a save moments later that would have given Neumann the lead again. Although the Knights put up a few shots before the half ended, the match remained at 1-1 through 45 minutes.
  • Neumann's offense came out of the locker room on fire. Starting in the 61st minute, they knocked in three goals in three minutes. Later in the half, the Knights were handed three straight yellow cards, and Carlos Cano was assessed a red card. The Mighty Macs were held without a shot for the last 13 minutes of the match. Neumann was victorious in a 4-1 decision.

  • Prall scored Immaculata's lone goal of the evening. Fitch was credited with the assist.
  • Prall and Fitch each had a team-high two shots.
  • Greppellini saw seven saves in goal.

The Mighty Macs play their final home match of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. They will host the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins.
