GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- A late second half rally fell one point short, as Immaculata fell to Gwynedd Mercy 84-83 in an Atlantic East Conference game on Saturday at the Griffin Center.
Tym Richardson led Immaculata with 19 points as one of five Mighty Macs who scored in double figures.
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 5-11 overall, and 0-3 in Atlantic East Conference play. With the win Gwynedd Mercy improves to 12-0 overall, and 2-0 in Atlantic East Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tym Richardson hit a three pointer to give Immaculata an early 3-2 lead. Mandon Seapoe followed with a pair of layups and Tym Richardson hit a jumper to tie the score at 9-9 with 16:44 remaining in the half. Gwynedd Mercy quickly scored eight points to build the lead to 19-11. Jalen Flowers was fouled on a three-point attempt and hit all three free throws, and later hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 24-19 with 10:45 remaining in the half.
- Samuel Jankowski would score on three layups later in the half to keep Immaculata in the game. Domenic Vacchiano hit a three-pointer with 2:14 remaining in the half to cut the lead to 35-33. Dylan Crews hit one of two from the free throw line as the half concluded with Gwynedd Mercy leading 41-38. Mandon Seapoe led Immaculata with nine points at the half.
- In the second half, Mandon Seapoe hit an early three-pointer with 18:41 remaining to cut the lead to 45-41. Tym Richardson hit a three-pointer of his own with12:52 remaining to pull Immaculata within three at 52-49.
- Gwynedd Mercy completed a three-point play at the foul line with 3:57 remaining to take a 79-68 lead. Immaculata would not go quietly. Dylan Crews hit a pair of free throws. Domenic Vacchiano hit a three-pointer with 2:01 remaining to make the score 81-73. Jalen Flowers scored on a layup, and Tym Richardson hit a three-pointer and followed up with a layup with 0:35 remaining to make the score 82-80.
- Gwynedd Scored on a layup with, and then Domenic Vacchiano hit a three-pointer with 0:04 remaining to make the score 84-83. After a foul, with 0:03 remaining, Gwynedd Mercy missed both free throws, but a long desperation shot at the buzzer missed as the Griffins closed out the 84-83 win.
