Men's Soccer Welcomes Drew to Draper Walsh Stadium on Tuesday

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata men's soccer team (3-5-1, 0-0-0 AEC) enters Tuesday night's match against Drew University after a tough 2-1 loss to Arcadia on Saturday. Immaculata tied the game at 1-1 in the second half, only to have the Knights earn and convert a penalty kick late in the second half. Immaculata had additional scoring chances hitting a cross bar and a post in the second half. This will be Immaculata's final non-conference game before opening Atlantic East Conference play.
  • Drew University (5-3-2, 0-1-0 Landmark) enters Tuesday's game after going 1-1 last week. Drew defeated DeSales 1-0 on September 25th, then lost in their Landmark Conference opener on Saturday to Juniata 1-0 on the road.
THE SERIES
  • This is the first ever meeting for Immaculata and Drew in men's soccer.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Matthew Kirkpatrick scored Immaculata's lone goal on Saturday. Kirkpatrick continues to lead Immaculata is scoring with four goals, two assists, and 10 points.
  • Reed Lindsay continues to be a factor for Immaculata, taking all set pieces while in the match, and has a team high three assists.
  • Immaculata had two good additional scoring opportunities in the second half of Saturday's game. Shortly after Arcadia took a 1-0 lead, Michael Prall shot had Arcadia's keeper beat, but hit the crossbar and stayed out. After Immaculata had tied the game Kyle Coleman's header off a corner kick by Reed Lindsay hit the right post.
  • Immaculata continued to get strong goalkeeping from both John Wilhelm and Ryan Straub last week. Wilhelm earned the clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Hood, making six saves. Ryan Straub made 10 saves vs Arcadia in Saturday's game.
  • Seven out of nine games for the men's soccer team have been decided by one goal, and the Mighty Macs are 3-4 in those games.
  • Immaculata is averaging 11.3 shots per game and their opponents are averaging 13.8 shots per game.
 
SCOUTING DREW
  • Senior forward Kevin Kiernan leads Drew's offense with six goals and three assists.
  • Sophomore Kevin Martinez has four goals.
  • Sophomore midfielder Nate Keller, and senior midfielder Tino Puentes each have one goal and three assists.
  • Junior midfielder James Cahill has two goals.
  • Graduate goalkeeper David Hoyt has started all 10 games for Drew and is 5-3-2 with a 0.74 goals-against average, with 29 saves on 92 shots faced, and three shutouts.
  • Drew is averaging 16.8 shots per game, and their opponents are averaging 10.4 shots per game.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Matthew Kirkpatrick was named to the Atlantic East Conference Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. Kirkpatrick scored Immaculata's goal in their game vs Arcadia on September 28th. Kirkpatrick had two shots with one on goal. In Immaculata's game vs Hood on September 25th Kirkpatrick had three shots with two on goal for the Mighty Macs.   
  • John Wilhelm was named to the Atlantic East Conference Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. Wilhelm made six saves of 14 shots faced to earn the clean sheet in Immaculata's 0-0 draw with Hood College on September 25th at Immaculata. 
 
UP NEXT
  • Immaculata will open Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday, October 9th when they travel to Arlington, VA to play Marymount University at 7:00 PM.
