Field Hockey Visits Widener for Non-Conference Game on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY
  • These schools are meeting for the 15th time, in a series that began back in 2009.

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata field hockey team returns to the field vs Widener on Wednesday night, following Saturday's heartbreaking double overtime loss to Keystone. Immaculata (4-2) on the season went 2-1 last week.
  • Widener enters the match 2-2 on the season, having defeated Drew 5-0 in their last game on September 14th.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Immaculata has started their season winning four out of their six games, including three shutout victories.
  • The Mighty Macs two loses have been in overtime.
  • Senior captain Della George has led the Mighty Macs at both ends of the field. George has recorded points in five out of six games and has three goals and four assists for the season.She had one goal and one assist in the win over LBC and had the Macs goal vs Keystone.
  • Alexis Andrada leads the Mighty Macs with seven goals.
  • Emilyn Bivens, Kayla Ledbetter, and Kailey Mayoros have added goals for the Mighty Macs.
  • Abby Fekete, Madalyn Bonner, and Rachel Madden have been strong on the field for the Macs.
  • Goalkeeper Julia Levase has made 21 saves and has two shutouts this season.
  • Immaculata enters a section of their schedule that will include opponents, Widener, Lebanon Valley, Alvernia, Stockton, Kean, and Goucher before staring Atlantic East Conference play on October 12th.
 
SCOUTING WIDENER
  • The Pride have opened their season going 2-2. They fell to Bryn Mawr 2-1 in overtime in their season opener on August 30th. They followed by beating Delaware Valley 3-1 on September 5th. They fell to Washington College 1-0 on September 7th, and defeated Drew 5-0 on September 14th.
  • The Pride have been led on offensive by sophomore defender Hannah Miller with two goals and one assist.
  • Junior midfielder Kayleigh Armstrong, first year forward Karly Bervinchak, junior forward Katie Haye, senior forward Maddie Hoyer, senior defender Meredith Marsteller, and senior forward Juliana Sanchez each have scored one goal.
  • Senior goalkeeper Abby Blake has started all four games for the Pride and has made 13 saves.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
  • Della George was named to the Atlantic East Conference field hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. George continued her strong start to her senior year scoring two goals and adding one assist over three games for the Mighty Macs. George had a goal and an assist in the Mighty Macs 4-0 win at Lancaster Bible on September 13th. She followed that game with scoring the Mighty Macs lone goal against Keystone on September 14th. George has registered points in five out of the Mighty Macs six games this season. In addition to her offensive output, George, one of the team's captains has been strong at both ends of the field helping Immaculata earn a pair of shutout victories during the week.
  • Julia Levase was named to the Atlantic East Conference field hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. Levase had a combined 10 saves while playing two and half games for the Mighty Macs this week. She made four saves, in Immaculata's 1-0 win at Delaware Valley earning her second shutout of the season, and the 12th of her Immaculata career. She split goalkeeper duties in the Mighty Macs 4-0 win at Lancaster Bible earning her 20th career win. Levase made six saves in Immaculata's double overtime game vs Keystone on September 14th.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata field hockey team will be on the road again on Saturday when they travel to play at Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 pm.
