Men's Soccer Hosts Notre Dame of Maryland this Afternoon at DWS

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's soccer team (1-2-0) returns to action this afternoon when they welcome Notre Dame of Maryland University to Draper Walsh Stadium at 4:00 pm. Immaculata is getting back into action after their 3-2 win at Elizabethtown on Saturday night.

SERIES HISTORY 
  • The two schools are meeting for the first time in their history for men's soccer.
  • The Notre Dame of Maryland University soccer team made it's program debut during the 2023 season. 
IMMACULATA NOTES
  • The Immaculata men's soccer team earned it's first win of the season on September 7th, when they defeated Elizabethtown College 3-2 on the road. Michael Balestriere, Kyle Coleman, and Matthew Kirkpatrick all scored goals, and Ryan Straub made four saves in goal for the Mighty Macs.
  • Reed Lindsay assisted Kyle Coleman's goal, and goalkeeper Ryan Straub had an assist on Mathew Kirkpatrick's goal.
  • As a team Immaculata is averaging 1.33 goals per game and are averaging 11.7 shots per game.
  • Immaculata has 14 shots on goal on 30 shots attempted.
  • Immaculata's opponents are averaging 1.67 goals per game and are averaging 12 shots per game.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME OF MARYLAND
  • The Gators have started their season 0-2 having lost to Goucher 3-2 on September 1st at home, and at Stockton 3-0 on September 7th.
  • In their opening match against Goucher, the Gators Peer Ewerbeck opened in the game's 30th minute on an assist from Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos. After Goucher leveled the match in the game's 47th minute, The Gators Elija Hanrieder converted a penalty kick in the game's 52nd minute to put Notre Dame ahead 2-1. Goucher would score in the 54th, and the 88th minute to win 3-2. Goalkeeper Mateo Gularte made 12 saves in goal.
  • In the match with Stockton on September 7th, goalkeeper Gabriel Gendarme made six saves in goal on 21 shots faced.
WEEKLY HONORS 
  • Goalkeeper Ryan Straub was named Atlantic East Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Straub made four saves on 16 shots faced in helping lead Immaculata to their first win of the season at Elizabethtown on September 7th.
  • Forward Matthew Kirkpatrick was named to the Atlantic East Conference men's soccer Weekly Honor Roll. Kirkpatrick scored the eventual game winning goal for the Mighty Macs in their 3-2 win at Elizabethtown on September 7th. Kirkpatrick generated three shots during the game and had a hand in Immaculata's first goal when he put a long throw into the box area that found its way to Michael Balestriere for the goal.

  • The Immaculata men's soccer team will be back on the road on Saturday, September 14th when they travel to Baltimore to play at Goucher College at 4:00 pm.
