IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team (1-0, 0-0 AEC) opened its season with a strong 3-0 win over Penn State Brandywine on Friday evening in a non-conference volleyball match at Alumnae Hall.

How it Happened

• Penn State-Brandywine jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first set.
• Christina Lenzo served eight consecutive points to give Immaculata a 19-13 lead.
• Immaculata closed out the first set winning the first set 25-18 on a block by Mel Mann.
• In set two, Immaculata jumped out to an early 6-2 lead as Lauren Gartman served five straight points.
• Emma Hodgson followed serving four consecutive points that included a pair of kills from Mia Esposito to increase Immaculata's lead to 11-3.
• Penn State Brandywine responded with a four-point run to close Immaculata's lead to 11-8.
• Alayah Phifer followed with a four-point service run of her own to extend Immaculata's lead to 18-10 as the Mighty Macs took set two 25-16.
• Immaculata would go on to take set three, 25-22 and the match. Alayah Phifer led the way with serving five consecutive points in the third set.
• Mia Esposito, Emma Hodgson, and Mel Mann all had multiple kills in the third set.

• Mia Esposito led the Immaculata attack with 11 kills, Emma Hodgson added six kills, and Alayah Phifer had five kills.
• Christina Lenzo distributed a game-high 14 assists. Jenna Bozzo added 7 assists, and Lauren Gartman had two assists.
• Christina Lenzo and Alayah Phifer each had four service aces.
• Dinah Stabinski led the Macs defensively with six digs. Christina Lenzo added three digs, and Alayah Phifer had three digs.
