TYSONS,Va.- The Immaculata baseball team dropped the first two games of the three game set on the road at Marymount this afternoon.
GAME ONE: MARYMOUNT 13, IMMACULATA 3
Marymount jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3
rd inning of the 7-inning opener. In the top of the 4
th Steven Theisen would respond with an RBI double to plate
Ryan Struble and tie the game at one. The Saints would bring across eight runs in the bottom half of the fourth to break the game open. Struble would single in both
Joey Wright and
Joey Sacco in the 5
th. The Saints would add five more runs in the bottom of the 5
th to put game one away.
Wright and
Hunter Weitzel both would go 2-3 in game one, while Struble, Theisen and
Jay Lawrence would all add a hit of their own.
GAME TWO: MARYMOUNT 8, IMMACULATA 4
Immaculata would score first in the top of the fourth inning, taking advantage of a Saints defensive miscue to jump ahead 3-0. The Saints would cut into the lead in the bottom half via a solo homerun to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Shawn Haut would bring home Weitzel with an RBI single in the 5
th inning to stretch the Immaculata lead to 4-1. The Saints would take the lead with five unearned runs over the course of the 5
th and 6
th innings to take a 6-4 lead. Marymount would add insurance runs in both the 7
th and 8
th innings to put the game out of reach for the Mighty Macs.
Josh Crowding would lead the way with a pair of hits in his four at bats. Sacco, Haut, Weitzel, and Theisen all added one hit in the second game.
Stephen DiBattista took his first loss of the season moving him to 5-1 on the year, but tallied eight strikeouts in his efforts while allowing one earned run.
The Immaculata baseball team is back in action tomorrow when they host Marymount at the Immaculata Baseball Stadium to wrap up their Atlantic East Conference series with a 2:00 PM start.
