Baseball Finishes Off Sweep of Neumann

IMMACULATA,Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team swept their Atlantic East Conference series versus Neumann with a 5-0 and 13-2 win this afternoon.
 
GAME ONE: IMMACULATA:5 NEUMANN:0 (7)
Jay Lawrence got the scoring started with a productive groundout to score Nick Turnage in the 2nd inning. The Macs would bring another across in the 3rd. Hunter Weitzel tripled in Ryan Struble and Lawrence to break the game open in the 4th, he would later score on a wild pitch.
 
Jason Hughes was dominant again with a complete game shutout surrendering five hits while fanning 12 for his fourth win of the year.
 
Joey Sacco,Josh Crowding, Shawn Haut, Turnage,Struble and Weitzel all had one hit in game one.
 
 
 
GAME TWO: IMMACULATA:13 NEUMANN:2
 
Shawn Haut would get the Macs on the board early with a productive fielder's choice, bringing home Joey Sacco. Haut would pick up a sacrifice fly in the 3rd to make it 2-0. The Mighty Macs would break the game open in the 4th inning with a five-run frame. Sal Serici, Sacco, Joey Wright, Crowding and Haut would all drive in runs during the fourth inning.
 
Serici would add another RBI in the 5th with a single to plate Turnage. The Knights would answer with a run in the 7th and 8th innings, before the Mighty Macs would put up another five spot in the bottom of the 8th headlined by Ryan Struble and Serici RBI doubles.
 
Alex LePage picked up the fifth win of his freshman campaign going six innings allowing three hits and striking out six.
 
Serici was the headliner at the plate in this one, going 3-5 with four RBIs.
 
 
The Immaculata baseball team is back in action on May 3rd when they travel to Cabrini for game one of their three game Atlantic East series with a 3:30 PM start.
