IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team (9-7, 3-3 Atlantic East) fell to Marywood University in their regular season finally 20-16 at Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
With her first assist of the game, on a goal by
Carly Oberg with 10:19 remaining in the first quarter, senior
Liza Laxton broke the Immaculata single season assist record with her 46
th assist of the season, breaking the record of 45 assists set by Nicole Dominick in 2018. Laxton had four assists on the game to finish the regular season with 49 assists. Laxton also eclipsed the 200 career point milestone on an assist of a goal by
Ava Hoffman with 4:48 remaining in the second quarter.
Tessa Liberatoscioli with six goals today broke the single season points record when she recorder her second goal of the game with 10:34 remaining in the first quarter for her 84
th point of the season, breaking the record of 83 set by Layne Kennedy in 2018. Liberatoscioli had six goals in the game to finish the regular season with 88 points.
In the first quarter, Marywood opened the scoring with 11:35 remaining in the quarter taking a 1-0 lead.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored back-to-back goals, the second goal giving her the IU single season points record to put Immaculata up 2-1.
Carly Oberg scored with 10:19 remaining in the quarter to increase the Immaculata's lead to 3-1 on an assist by
Liza Laxton. The assist gave Liza the IU single season assist record with her 46
th assist. Marywood would tally six goals, sandwiched around a goal from
Jacki Murray to lead 7-4 after the first quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Immaculata responded with early goals by
Liza Laxton and
Jacki Murray to close the gap to 7-6. Marywood responded with a pair of goals of their own to extend their lead back to three goals at 9-6.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored a pair of goals to pull Immaculata within a goal at 9-8. After a goal by Marywood,
Ava Hoffman scored on an assist by
Liza Laxton. With the assist,
Liza Laxton became the seventh player in program history to reach the 200-career point milestone.Â
Jacki Murray followed with a pair of goals; the second one assisted by
Ava Hoffman to put Immaculata ahead 11-10. Marywood tied the score, before
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored with 0:05 remaining to take a 12-11 lead into the halftime break.
In the third quarter, Marywood came out on fire scoring the first four goals to take a 15-12 lead.
Liza Laxton scored to break the run with 9:38 remaining in the quarter. Marywood scored later in the quarter to lead 16-13 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter,
Jacki Murray scored on an assist by
Liza Laxton.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored, and
Carly Oberg scored on an assist by
Liza Laxton. Marywood would go on to close out the game winning 20-16.
