Liberatoscioli Sets Single Season Program Records as Macs Fall To Neumann in Quarterfinals

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team fell to Neumann 21-16 in the Atlantic East Quarterfinals at Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Immaculata senior Tessa Liberatoscioli broke three Immaculata single season records on the afternoon. With her first ground ball of the game her 68th of the season, Tessa broke the single season record of 67 previously set by Anne Moulton in 203. She finishes the season with a new record total of 73. With her fourth goal of the game with 9:07 remaining in the third quarter Liberatoscioli scored her 69th goal of the season to set the new IU single-season record for goals. The previous record of 68 had been set by Layne Kennedy in 2018 and was tied earlier in the game by Jacki Murray with her 68th goal of the season at with 11:32 remaining in the third quarter. With her getting the draw control with 1:18 remaining in the third quarter that was Liberatoscioli's Tessa Liberatoscioli broke the IU single-season record for draw controls. She finishes the season with a new record total of 113. The previous record of 111 draw controls was set by Danielle Lopez in 2014.

In the first quarter, Neumann opened the scoring in the games first minute, as they jumped out to quick 4-0 lead. Jacki Murray got Immaculata on the board scoring back-to-back goals the second one assisted by Tessa Liberatoscioli. Ava Hoffman scored to pull Immaculata with in one goal at 4-3. Neumann would get a goal later in the quarter to lead 5-3 after the first quarter.

Liza Laxton, Jacki Murray, and Tessa Liberatoscioli all scored early in the second quarter to give Immaculata the lead at 6-5. Following a Neumann goal, Liza Laxton and Tessa Liberatoscioli each scored to put Immaculata up 8-6. Neumann responded with five straight goals, before Ava Hoffman broke the run scoring with 0:16 remaining as Immaculata trailed 11-9 at the half.

In the third quarter, the teams exchanged goals early as Ava Hoffman, and Jacki Murray scored goals sandwiched by a pair of Neumann goals. Jacki Murray scored with 11:32 remaining in the quarter to tie the IU single-season goal scoring record of 68 goals. Tessa Liberatoscioli scored with 9:50 remaining in the quarter to also tie the single-season goals scoring record, before breaking IU single-season record with her 69th goal of the season 0:43 later. Cara Strickland scored later in the quarter for Immaculata as they trailed 17-14 after three quarters.

Andrea Petito and Liza Laxton would score for Immaculata in the fourth quarter as Neumann would close out the win 20-16.

Immaculata was led by Tessa Liberatoscioli with four goals, two assists, six ground balls, two caused turnovers, and 10 draw controls. Liza Laxton with three goals, three assists, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and six draw controls. Jacki Murray with five goals, three ground balls, one caused turnovers, and five draw controls, and Ava Hoffman had two goals and two assists.

The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team has now concluded their season with an overall record of 9-8 and were 3-3 in Atlantic East Conference play. Season recap to follow.
