GWYNEDD VALLEY,Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team won the opening game of their Atlantic East Conference series with a 7-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy.

Stephen DiBattista shined for the Mighty Macs on the mound this afternoon, throwing a complete game shutout to pick up his team leading 7
th win of the season. He struck out three while surrendering only four hits.

Joey Sacco got the Mighty Macs on the board in the 3
rd inning with an RBI single to the right side to bring home
Nick Turnage.
Joey Wright would follow that up with a sacrifice fly to plate
Hunter Weitzel. The Macs would score another in the 3
rd to make it an early 3-0 lead.

Heading into the top of the 8
th, the score remained 3-0 until
Steven Theisen singled up the middle bringing home
Shawn Haut making it 4-0. In the top of the 9
th the Macs would add insurance runs when
Josh Crowding singled up the middle to bring home
Joey Wright.
Shawn Haut followed that up with a two-run blast to left field to break the game open and make it a 7-0 Immaculata victory.

Turnage, Weitzel and Haut all had two hits for Immaculata, while Sacco, Wright, Crowding, Theisen and
Sal Serici each had one. Sacco,Wright,Crowding, Struble and Theisen all drove in one run while Haut drove in a pair.

The Immaculata baseball team is back in action on Saturday, April 20
th when they host Gwynedd Mercy for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM. The program will honor their 13 seniors in between games. Â
