MYRTLE BEACH S.C.- Following an off day
. The Immaculata University softball team swept their third day of games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach on Thursday. After a two-hour weather delay, Immaculata defeated Cairn 5-3 this morning, and the defeating Bridgewater State 10-7 in the afternoon.
Game One: Immaculata 5, Cairn 3
The Highlanders took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Immaculata responded with a run in the bottom of the third when
Peyton McGowan hit a sacrifice fly to center to score
Bryele Anthony to cut Cairn's
lead to 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Kaitlyn Carter led off reaching
base on a hit-by-pitch.
Jess Oldham then doubled down the right field line to advance Kaitlin Carter to third.
Peyton McGowan followed with an RBI single to left field to score
Kaitlyn Carter.
Rylee Martin then cleared the bases with a two-run triple to right center as Immaculata took a 4-2 lead. Martin came into score on an RBI single by
Carlee Karcher to put Immaculata up 5-2.

Emma Mercadante (1-1) earned the complete game win allowing six hits, three runs, one earned run, and striking out 11.
Game Two: Immaculata 10, Bridgewater State 7
In game two Bridgewater State scored four runs in the top of the first inning to go ahead early 4-0.
Immaculata would get one run back in the bottom of the first inning.
Bryele Anthony led off with a single to center field. She advanced to second base on a ground out
Naila Valdez. Anthony would score on a fielder's choice and an error by the third baseman.
Bridgewater State would score two more runs on a double in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 6-1.
In the bottom of the second, Immaculata would get another run back when
Emma Pinto reached base on an error by the pitcher. Kristen Carter followed with a walk, and Pinto advanced to third and Kristen Carter to second on a ground out to shortstop by
Bryele Anthony. Pinto would score on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the third,
Emma Pinto grounded out to second base with the bases loaded scoring
Rylee Martin with Immaculata's third run. Kristen Carter then singled to centerfield to score
Courtney Gable, and
Bryele Anthony hit into a fielder's choice scoring
Kaitlyn Carter to cut the Bridgewater State lead to 6-5.
In the bottom of the fourth, Immaculata would tie the score when Kristen Carter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded scoring
Courtney Gable. Immaculata would go ahead 7-6 on when
Bryele Anthony singled to left field scoring
Kaitlyn Carter.
Emma Pinto scored on a passed ball, and then
Naila Valdez hit a two-run single to right field scoring Kristen Carter and
Bryele Anthony to put Immaculata ahead 10-6.
Bridgewater State would get a single run in the sixth inning, as Immaculata closed out the win 10-7.
Courtney Gable (1-1) earned the complete game win allowing seven runs, three earned, and striking out one.
