Macs Sweep Day Two of Fastpitch Dreams Classic

MYRTLE BEACH,SC.- The Immaculata softball team swept day two of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach this afternoon.
 
 
GAME ONE: Immaculata:9 Martin Luther:3
 
The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, in the top of the 3rd freshman Grace Truppi singled in Peyton McGowan for her first collegiate hit and RBI. Freshman Caitlin Jordan would also tally her first collegiate hit and RBIs with a two-run single to left field to bring in Truppi and Lily Hagan who reached on her first career hit. Destiny Howard would single in two of her own later in the inning giving the Mighty Macs a 6-2 lead.
 
The Knights would get one back in the bottom half of the 3rd. Jordan would drive in McGowan with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Jess Oldham would tack on another with a triple to score Bryele Anthony. Jordan would record her fourth RBI of the game with a groundout bringing home Steph Kelly.
 
Nadia Bhuiyan picked up her first collegiate win in the circle, while the team collected 16 hits and eight runs batted in.
 
GAME TWO: Immaculata:16 Cedar Crest:2
The Mighty Macs offense was firing on all cylinders in game two of the day, putting up a crooked number in every frame. Bryele Anthony and Rylee Martin both went 4-4 on the afternoon. Anthony drove in two while Martin drove in four runs. Peyton McGowan was 2-2 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Emma Murphy was 2-4 on the day with a run driven in of her own.
 
The team collected 14 hits, with Kaitlyn Carter and Carlee Karcher each tallying one. Riece Onorato picked up the win in the circle, striking out seven in five innings of work.
 
 
The Mighty Macs softball team will be back in action Thursday, March 7th for another double header, taking on Cairn at 9:00 AM and Bridgewater State at 1:00 PM.
