SCRANTON,Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team opened up Atlantic East Conference play a double header sweep of Marywood.

GAME ONE: IMMACULATA:6 MARYWOOD:1 (7 innings)

Jason Hughes got the ball in the first game of the day, picking up his first win of the season, surrendering three hits and one earned run while striking out three.
Â
Immaculata got out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first with
Ryan Struble singling in one and
Jay Lawrence doubling in two.
Joey Sacco would extend the lead to 4-0 with a sacrifice fly. The team would round out the scoring in the 6
th scoring two runs in part to aggressive baserunning.

GAME TWO: IMMACULATA:5 MARYWOOD:0

Immaculata struck early again in this one, with
Joey Wright and
Ryan Struble each driving in one run to make it a 2-0 game after the top of the first.
Shawn Haut drove in two more for the Macs in the second inning with a single up the middle.
Joey Sacco would add an insurance run with his 4
th hit of the game bringing in
Hunter Weitzel.

Stephen DiBattista moved to 4-0 on the season, striking out four in seven innings of work while allowing zero runs.
Jack Norton and
Alexander Singer closed the game out and kept the shutout intact.

The Macs collected 21 hits between the two games combined this afternoon.

The Immaculata baseball team will look for the conference opening sweep of the Pacers on Sunday with game three of the series scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Immaculata Baseball Stadium. Â
