Power Surge Propels Macs Over Kean

UNION,Nj.- The Immaculata baseball team won their third straight game this afternoon taking down Kean on the road by a score of 9-5.
 
Freshman Alex LePage got the start on the mound for the Mighty Macs. LePage picked up the win providing six strong innings, surrendering four hits and one run while tallying six strikeouts.
 
The Mighty Macs offense was firing early and often, with Shawn Haut singling in Steven Theisen to give Immaculata a 1-0 first inning lead. Freshman Sal Serici would make his presence in the Macs lineup felt, as he launched his first career collegiate home run over the left center field fence, driving in Ryan Struble in the process to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
 
The Cougars would respond in the bottom of the 3rd with a run of their own. In the top of the 6th, Serici would single leading to Struble scoring via a Cougars throwing error. In the top of the 7th the Mighty Macs would break the game open, Joey Wright would get the scoring started with a solo home run to left field, his first of the year. after Haut and Matt Passerini singled, Struble would send his first homerun of the year over the wall in left field making It a 8-1 ballgame.
 
Kean would cut the lead to 8-3 heading into the ninth inning, where Immaculata would add an insurance run. Hunter Weitzel and Serici would each single, where Weitzel would score on a wild pitch making it a 9-3 game. The Cougars would respond with two runs in the ninth, but it would not be enough as the Mighty Macs held on for a 9-5 victory over a talented Cougars squad.
 
The Immaculata baseball team will be back in action on Saturday, March 2nd when they compete in the Armstrong Invitational hosted by Methodist, before traveling to the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.
