FAYETTEVILLE, Nc.- The Immaculata baseball team dropped their opener in the Armstrong Invitational hosted by Methodist University. The team took on Christopher Newport who came out on top 11-4.

Christopher Newport jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, they would make it a 4-0 game by the 5
th inning. Immaculata would respond via a
Josh Crowding RBI groundout to score
Joey Sacco. The Captains would stretch their lead to 9-1 with a big 6
th inning at the plate. Immaculata would cut into the lead in the bottom of the 9
th with
Josh Crowding scoring on a wild pitch,
Shawn Haut would single to bring in
Joey Wright and
Erik Molinaro would single in Haut. The late inning rally would not be enough to take away the deficit.

Shawn Haut continued his hot start at the plate for the Mighty Macs going 3-5 on the day with a double and an RBI.
Joey Wright was 2-5 with a double of his own.
Erik Molinaro came off the bench swinging a hot bat, going 2-2 on the morning with an RBI.

The Immaculata baseball team is back in action tomorrow, March 3
rd when they take on Wittenberg at 10:30 AM and the host Methodist at 5:30 PM in day two of the Armstrong Invitational.
