IMMACULATA,Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team opened their 2024 home schedule with an 8-3 victory over Delaware Valley.

Matt Long picked up the start on the mound for the Mighty Macs, striking out five in four innings of work while surrendering one run on six hits.
Alexander Singer picked up his first win of the season, racking up four strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
Derek Andrada came on in relief of Singer to finish out the top half of the seventh, picking up one strikeout in his 2/3 of an inning.

Trailing 1-0 early, the Mighty Macs would respond in the bottom of the first,
Joey Sacco worked a leadoff walk, he would later score on an RBI single from
Steven Theisen. The score would remain deadlocked at one until the 5
th inning,
Sal Serici would wear a pitch off the back, and cause havoc on the bases, stealing second and causing the opposing pitcher to balk would advance him to third.
Joey Wright would deliver when the team needed, driving Serici in with an RBI single.

The Mighty Macs would break the game open in the bottom of the 6
th, after a trio of walks, it would be Wright again who delivered a two out, bases loaded single to right bringing in Joey Mazzone and
Matt Passerini to bring the score to 4-1. Wright would later steal second prior to a
Josh Crowding 2 RBI double to plate
Joey Sacco and Wright to make it a 6-1 ballgame.

The Aggies would answer with two of their own in the top half of the seventh. After trio of free passes, including
JJ O'Neil getting hit by a pitch, freshman
Nick Turnage would deliver with a pinch hit two run single in his first collegiate at bat.

Shawn Haut would draw three walks on the day while stealing two bases, overall, the Mighty Macs drew 10 walks and stole six bases.

The Immaculata baseball team is back in action on Thursday, February 29
th when they travel to Kean University for a non-conference showdown.
