IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's volleyball team dropped their home match vs the University of Valley Forge 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 17-25, 22-25) on Friday evening.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Immaculata was led by
Josh McGurl with 13 kills, two service aces, and 10 digs.
Michael Prall had eight kills, and four digs.
Brandon Lieberman had seven kills, two service aces, and four digs.
Jack Debes had six kills, one block, and eight digs.
Joe Martell had two kills, 32 assists, one block, and two digs.
Matthew Pfister had 23 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
In the first set
Jack Debes, and
Michael Prall each served three consecutive points as Immaculata took an 11-4 lead. Valley Forge would battle back to even the score at 14-14. Immaculata regained their lead on a kill by
Michael Prall, and a service ace by
Josh McGurl. Immaculata would go on to win the first set 25-20 on kills by
Jack Debes and
Brandon Lieberman.
In set two, Valley Forge would go on a 10-1 run to take a 12-4 lead. Trailing 20-11, Immaculata used a four-point run that included kills by
Christian Lee, and
Michael Prall to close the gap to 20-15. Valley Forge would win set two 25-16.
In set three, Valley Forge jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead. Immaculata broke the run on a kill by
Jack Debes. Debes later served three straight points to pull Immaculata with in three at 16-13. Valley Forge would win set three by a score of 25-17.
In the fourth set,
Michael Prall got a side out on a kill, and then served three consecutive points that included a kill by
Brandon Lieberman as Immaculata took a 15-13 lead. Valley Forge responded with a six-point run to take a 19-15 lead. Immaculata rallied to tie the score at 19-19 on consecutive service aces by
Brandon Lieberman. Valley Forge then earned four out of the next five points to take a 23-20 lead. Immaculata refused to go quietly as they earned consecutive points on kills by
Joe Martell and
Josh McGurl. Valley Forge closed out the win taking the set 25-22, and the match 3-1.

The Immaculata men's volleyball team (2-9) will be back on the court on Tuesday, February 27 when they visit Elizabethtown College for a 7:00 PM match.
