SCRANTON, Pa.- The No. 2 seed Immaculata field hockey team fell to No. 1 seed Marymount 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in a hard fought 2024 Atlantic East Conference Championship Game.
Julia Levase made 10 saves in goal to help keep the Mighty Macs in the game.
Kailey Mayoros and
Rory Watson (though not credited) registered shots on goal for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata was making their program's first championship game appearance since 1982 when they played in the EAIAW Championship Game.
How it Happened
- Kailey Mayoros registered the first shot on goal in the game's third minute that was saved by Marywood goalkeeper Sabrina Frazier.
- Marywood later in the first quarter had three penalty corners all defended by Immaculata, and Julia Levase made two saves.
- Immaculata earned their first penalty corner late in the first quarter. Abby Fekete's shot went just wide as the first quarter ended scoreless.
- Immaculata defended another Marywood corner in the second quarter, as the game remained scoreless at halftime.
- Marywood opened the scoring in the game's 38th minute as Darlene Jones batted a ball out of the air into the net to give Marywood a 1-0.
- Marywood extended their lead to 2-0 in the game's 43rd minute as Jordan Saybe batted a ball out of the air into the net.
- Julia Levase made three saves in the fourth quarter to keep the score at 2-0.
- Marywood would go on to close out the win 2-0.
