Field Hockey Visits Marywood For the Atlantic East Conference Championship Game on Saturday

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata field hockey team (10-8, 3-1 AEC) will make it is first appearance in the AEC Championship game on Saturday when they play at AEC No. 1 seed Marywood. This will be Immaculata field hockey's first championship game appearance as a program since playing in the 1982 EAIAW Championship Game.
  • The No. 2 seed Immaculata earned their spot in the Championship after defeating No. 3 seed Gwynedd Mercy 1-0 in the Semifinals on Saturday.
  • The No.1 seed Marywood earned their spot in the Championship defeating No. 4 seed Manhattanville 11-1 on Saturday.

  • Immaculata and Marywood are meeting for the 22nd time in their series that began back in 2006.
  • Immaculata is 4-17 all-time vs Marywood.

MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Alexis Andrada scored her tenth goal of the season in the game's 25th minute on a breakaway for the eventual game winning goal for the Mighty Macs in their 1-0 Semifinal win over Gwynedd Mercy. With the goal Andrada broke the IU field hockey program record for points in a season by a freshman with 21 passing Ashley O'Donnell's record of 20 in 2011.
  • Della George did everything at both ends of the field for Immaculata in their semifinal win. George got the steal and made the pass to send Andrada on the breakaway to earn the assist on the eventual game winning goal. The assist was George's team high eighth assist.
  • Julia Levase made three saves in goal to earn her seventh shutout of the season on Saturday, and the 17th of her IU career.
  • Kailey Mayoros had a breakout season in 2024 with five goals, including tying an IU field hockey program record by scoring goals in four consecutive games.
  • Immaculata will look for additional offensive help from Emily Bivens, Maria Berenato, Abby Fekete, Gabrielle O'Brien, and Rory Watson.
  • The Immaculata will rely on their defensive core of Madalyn Bonner, Della George, Kaitlin Gale, Stephanie Webb, and Rachel Madden to help limit Marywood's opportunities on Saturday.
  • Immaculata will also rely on midfielders Jillian Vandenbraak, Abby Fekete, Victoria Atkinson, and Kayla Ledbetter to assist on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field.

WEEKLY HONORS
  • Della George was named the Atlantic East Field Hockey Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. George assisted on Immaculata's overtime winning goal at Neumann on October 30th. George is factor on both sides of the field for Immaculata serving as the flyer on penalty corners. She helped Immaculata defend three Neumann penalty corners.
  • Julia Levase was named the Atlantic East Field Hockey Defensive Play of the Week on Monday afternoon. Levase made two saves in Immaculata's 1-0 win over Neumann on Wednesday.
 
OF NOTE ON THE 1982 IU FIELD HOCKEY TEAM
  • The team finished 15-4 overall.
  • Won their second consecutive PAIAW Championship.
  • Defeated the University of Notre Dame 1-0 on October 26, 1982, at Immaculata.
  • Won the All-College Tournament for the first time going 3-0.
  • Defeated York 1-0 in EAIAW Semifinals on November 5, 1982. Lost to West Virginia Wesleyan 4-1 in the EAIAW Championship Game on November 6, 1982.
 
AEC CHAMPIONSHIP NOTE
  • The winner of Saturday's AEC Championship Game will receive the conference's automatic berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament.
