Men's Basketball Downs Penn State Abington in Home Opener, 82-55

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Domenic Vacchiano scored a career-high 15 points and Samuel Jankowski scored 11 points as Immaculata defeated visiting Penn State Abington 82-55 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.

With the win today, Immaculata improves to 1-4 on the season. Penn State Abington falls to 0-6 on the season.

How it Happened
  • Penn State Abington got out of the gate shooting strong, as they built an early 13-6 lead. Ryan Straub got things going for Immaculata with a three-pointer with 13:52 remaining in the half to cut PSU Abington's lead to 13-9. A pair of steals by Dinero Washington led to a fast break layup for Washington and a layup for John Proctor as Immaculata tied the score at 13-13. Ryan Straub hit another three-pointer to put Immaculata ahead 16-13.
  • Domenic Vacchiano would later score 13 consecutive points for Immaculata to give Immaculata a 31-24 lead with 3:01 remaining in the half. The run by Vacchiano included a pair of three-pointers. Samuel Jankowski would hit a pair of free-throws, and Jalen Flowers scored on a layup and hit a three-pointer as Immaculata would take a 40-24 lead into the halftime break.
  • In the second half, Samuel Jankowski scored on a layup and drew the foul. Jankowski completed the three-point play at the free throw line. After a steal from Jankowski Mandon Seapoe scored on a layup to put Immaculata up 45-26. Tyler Scarpulla scored on a layup with 14:29 remaining as Immaculata increased their lead to 51-30.
  • Penn State Abington would cut the lead to 54-40 with 10:33 remaining. John Proctor would follow with a jumper, and Ryan Straub hit another three-pointer to increase Immaculata's lead back to 19.
