Women's Volleyball visits Marywood in AEC Opener on Wednesday Night

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata women's volleyball team (2-9, 0-0 AEC) are back in action on Wednesday after a long schedule break when they visit Marywood for their Atlantic East Conference opener.
  • Immaculata last played on October 4th when they fell to Eastern 3-0.
  • Marywood (4-14, 0-0 AEC) enter Wednesday's match after splitting a tri-match on October 12th. The Pacers defeated Goucher 3-1, and fell to the host Drew 3-0 in Madison, N.J.
THE SERIES
  • These two schools are meeting for the 18th time in their series that began in 2007.
  • Immaculata is 2-15 all-time vs Marywood.
 
LAST MEETING
  • Marywood defeated Immaculata 3-2 in their last meeting on October 18, 2023, at Alumnae Hall. After dropping the first set 21-25, Immaculata won set two 25-20, and set three 25-12. Marwood bounced back to take set four 21-25, and the deciding set 9-15.
  • Isabella Ridgell had 13 kills, Christina Lenzo had 13 assists, and Ava Thorley had four service aces.
  • Calissa Araujo had five blocks, and Lily Burnette had 27 digs on the defensive side for Immaculata.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Jenna Bozzo led Immaculata in their match with Eastern with three kills, four assists, one service ace, and two digs. For her play in that match, Bozzo was named to the Atlantic East Conference Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, October 7th.
  • Mia Esposito with 46 kills, Mel Mann with 45 kills, and Alayah Phifer with 40 kills lead the Immaculata attack.
  • Immaculata has gotten strong play from their setters Christina Lenzo with 98 assists, and Jenna Bozzo with 65 assists. Lenzo has a team-high seven service aces, and Jenna Bozzo has six service aces.
  • At the Libero position Dinah Stabinski had been consistently strong for Immaculata. Stabinski leads Immaculata with 131 digs, averaging 4.09 digs per set. Stabinski has added 10 assists and five service aces. She has been named to the Atlantic East Conference Weekly Honor Roll four times this season.
  • Mia Esposito has a team high 15 blocks. Calissa Araujo with five blocks, and Mel Mann and Eliana Szatkowski each have four blocks.
  • Immaculata has gotten strong play off their bench from Lauren Gartman with six service aces, Cianni Baez with six service aces, and Lauren Ladik with five service aces.
 
SCOUTING MARYWOOD
  • Graduate middle hitter Casey Hagerstrom leads the Marywood attack with 104 kills. She is averaging 2.26 kills per game. Senior Autumn Savitski has 75 kills, averaging 1.36 kills per set.
  • Sophomore setter Jayden Laws has team highs in service aces with 22, and in assists with 230.
  • Casey Hagerstrom has a team high 28 blocks, and freshman Ryleigh Hart has 21 blocks.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Peyton Fischer has a team-high 223 digs averaging 4.46 digs per set, and Jaedyn Laws has 119 digs averaging 2.02 digs per set.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata women's volleyball team will be back in action on Saturday, October 19th, when they will travel to Hackettstown, N.J., or an Atlantic East Conference match at Centenary at 1:00 PM.
