IMMACULATA, Pa.- In the continuation of the second game of the doubleheader from March 27
th that was suspended by rain in the top of the first inning, the Immaculata softball to fell to Cabrini 9-2 on Thursday afternoon.
Already leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Cabrini added a run to take a 2-0 lead with Immaculata coming to bat in the bottom of the first.
In the bottom of the first Immaculata began with a bunt single by
Bryele Anthony and an infield single to shortstop by
Sara Rode. Anthony advanced to third on the throw to first base.
Carlee Karcher singled to centerfield to score
Bryele Anthony to cut the Cabrini lead to 2-1.
Cabrini would respond in the top of the second with a two-run home run to left center, and a two-run double in the fourth both off the bat of Ariana Mirenda. Cabrini would add on three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-1 lead.
Immaculata would score their second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Bryele Anthony led off with a walk and added on to her program single season stolen base record with her 25
th stolen base of the season. Anthony would score on a single from
Peyton McGowan. Cabrini would go on to close out the 9-2 win.
Courtney Gable took the loss on the mound falling to 4-7 on the season, going six innings for the Macs.
The Immaculata softball team is scheduled to be back in action on Saturday, April 29
th when they close out their Atlantic East Conference schedule with a doubleheader with Neumann for Senior Day starting at 12:00 PM.
