IMMACULATA,Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team opened up their weekend Atlantic East series with Cabrini, picking up a game one victory by a score of 4-3.

Jason Hughes picked up the victory on the mound, in six innings of work he fanned 10 and limited the Cavaliers offense to three runs on the afternoon.
Mason Keller came on in the 7
th inning in relief of Hughes, and threw three innings of shutout baseball, picking up three strikeouts while only allowing one hit to pick up the save.

Falling behind 2-0 in the 4
th inning, the Macs offense found life. After loading the bases with no outs,
Jay Lawrence put the ball in play, allowing
Steven Theisen to cross the plate to cut the lead in half.

Matt Passerini would come off the bench and step up to the plate with two runners in scoring position. He drove the ball back up the middle for a 2 RBI single, driving in
Justin Klemick and
Ryan Struble to give the Macs a 3-2 lead.
Joey Wright would come up later in the inning and rope a double to the wall in left center, allowing Passerini to score from 1
st base.

The combination of Hughes and Keller on the mound was enough to close the door on the Cavaliers lineup for the afternoon.

The Immaculata baseball team is back in action for games two and three of the series beginning at 11:00 AM at Cabrini Carroll Field at Archbishop Carroll High School.
