Ludlow Records 24 Saves in Victory over Neumann

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata goalkeeper Matthew Ludlow made 24 saves as the Immaculata men's lacrosse team defeated the Neumann 10-9 in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday evening.

In the first quarter, Neumann got on the board first with 7:50 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata would respond with goals by Connor Teears, and Bailey Manion to take a 2-1 lead with 0:09 remaining in the quarter.

In the second quarter, David Azzarano would give the Macs a 3-1 lead with an early goal. Neumann would respond with a pair of goals to pull even at 3-3. Joseph Buiso and Anthony Inserra would score goals to give the Macs a 5-3 lead at half-time.

Early in the third quarter, Neumann scored twice to tie the game at 5-5. Anthony Inserra restored Macs lead on an assist from David Azzarano. Neumann would comeback with a pair of goals to take a 7-6 lead. Bailey Manion and David Azzarano would score later in the quarter to give Immaculata an 8-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In the first minute of the fourth quarter Neumann scored two goals to go up 9-8. Davida Azzarano tied the team at 9-9 with 11:28 left on an assist from Anthony Inserra. Bailey Manion scored with 10:56 remaining on an assist from David Azzarano to put the Macs up to stay 10-9.

Goalkeeper Matthew Ludlow made three important saves late in the quarter and chased down a Neumann shot that went wide to give Immaculata possession with 2:57 remaining. The Mighty Macs defense held strong, and the Macs rand down the clock to earn the 10-9 win!

The Mighty Macs were led offensively by David Azzarano with three goals and three assists, Anthony Inserra with two goals and three assists, and Bailey Manion with three goals. Bailey Manion scooped up eight ground balls, and Daniel Alvarez had six ground balls for the Macs. Defensively Matthew Ludlow led the Macs with24 saves and seven ground balls.

The Immaculata men's lacrosse team (8-4, 1-1 AEC)  is back in action on Saturday, April 15th when they travel to play at Cabrini in and Atlantic East Conference match-up at 1:00 PM.
