Winter Haven,Fl- The Immaculata baseball team defeated Buena Vista University today by a final score of 5-1.
On the mound for the Mighty Macs, junior
Derek Andrada got the start, and he did not disappoint. Andrada threw 6 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits while picking up 5 strikeouts and did not allow any runs.
At the plate,
Ryan Struble led the way going 2-3 with a 2 RBI double in the 4
th to get the Macs on the board first. He also scored 2 runs.
Joey Steff went 1-2 with an RBI single in the 4
th to plate Struble.
Joey Wright and
Justin Klemick also added an RBI each on sacrifice flies.
Josh Crowding was a mainstay on the bases this evening drawing four walks in five plate appearances.
On the basepaths,
Frank Margiotta and
Josh Crowding swiped second base. Freshman
Andrew Jones made his first appearance as a Mighty Mac and picked up a stolen base as well.
The Mighty Macs look to continue their win streak tomorrow against Husson University at the Lake Myrtle Complex with a 4:45 PM start time on LM Field 8.
