WINTER HAVEN, FL.- The Immaculata University baseball team picked up their fifth consecutive victory Thursday evening when they defeated Husson University by a final score of 8-3.

Jason Hughes flashed dominant stuff all day, fanning a program record 12 hitters, surpassing the previous record of 11 held by himself along with five others.Hughes only allowed four hits in 7 innings of work.Â

In the bottom of the first, senior
Joey Wright singled up the middle and advanced on a past ball which led to junior
Steven Theisen scoring him on an RBI single up the middle. In the fifth, senior cleanup hitter
Joey Sacco hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-1.Â

The Mighty Macs put the game out of reach in the sixth inning, scoring 4 runs highlighted by graduate student
Frank Margiotta's 2 RBI double and
Steven Theisen's RBI single. In the 8th Inning, sophomore
Matt Passerini hit a sacrifice fly to score
Joey Sacco.Â

In relief for the Mighty Macs, Junior Alex Singer closed the door in the final two frames, striking out five hitters while only allowing one hit.Â
