FAYETTEVILLE, Nc- The Immaculata baseball team took down nationally ranked Christopher Newport Sunday afternoon 12-6 in the final day of the Armstrong Invitational hosted by Methodist University.

The Mighty Macs trailed 5-1 heading into the top of the 6
th inning. The top of the 6
th was when the momentum started to turn. After
Steven Theisen and
Justin Klemick walked,
Ryan Struble sent a double to the left field gap to plate Theisen. After
Robert Woodward got hit by a pitch, leadoff man
Frank Margiotta would make it a 5-3 ballgame after a sacrifice fly. After a walk from
Joey Wright,
Josh Crowding tied the game up with a 2 RBI single.

Joey Sacco kept the rally going with a single of his own, knocking in Wright.
Erik Molinaro would come into the game as a pinch hitter for his first Mighty Mac at bat, with the bases loaded. He would tally a single driving in both Crowding and Sacco.
Steven Theisen would go on to score on a passed ball to stretch the lead to 9-5.

In the 8
th inning,
Steven Theisen would double down the right field line to put the game out of reach for the Captains, plating both Crowding and Wright.
Joey Wright would later drive in Woodward in the top half of the 9
th to stretch the Immaculata lead to 12-6.
Crowding,Theisen and Molinaro each drove in two runs each, Margiotta,Wright,Sacco and Struble drove in one a piece.

Graduate
Trevor Wagner picked up the win for the Macs as he would come on in the 5
th inning and throw 4 innings of exceptional baseball. He racked up six strikeouts to silence the Captains bats.

The Immaculata baseball team is back in action on Tuesday, March 7
th in Davenport, Florida where they will take place in the RussMatt Invitational. Their first opponent will be Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 9:00 A.M.
