Softball Falls in Doubleheader Versus Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J.- The Immaculata softball team was held to just one run across two games as they dropped their doubleheader against Stockton on Monday afternoon.  

In game one, Immaculata managed to keep Stockton off the board in the bottom of the first inning when Bryele Anthony threw out a Stockton runner at the plate. Stockton would come back in the bottom of the second inning to score four runs to take a 4-0 lead.  

Immaculata would get on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Bryele Anthony singled to left field to score Kaitlyn Carter to cut Stockton's lead to 4-1.  

Stockton would respond with a run in the bottom of the fifth, and then ended the game in the bottom of the sixth with four additional runs to win 9-1. 

Emma Mercadante took the loss falling to 2-1, going the distance allowing 12 hits, allowing three earned runs, and had three strike outs. Bryele Anthony went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in the Macs only run of the day. 

In game two, Stockton got on the board in the bottom of the first inning scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. Stockton would add single runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to take game two 5-0. 

Courtney Gable (2-2) pitched the full game for Immaculata, allowing 12 hits, three earned runs, and striking out one. Lauren Carboni hit a double, and Elena Anglani had a stolen base.  

The Immaculata softball team (5-5, 1-1 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Thursday, March 23rd when they will visit Widener University for a non-conference doubleheader. The first game will begin at 4:00 PM.
