Women's Basketball Set to Visit Marymount for Atlantic East Semifinals

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Following their 58-52 win over Neumann in the Atlantic East Quarterfinals on Monday night, the No. 4 Mighty Macs return to action tonight when they travel to No. 1 Marymount in the Atlantic East Semifinals. 

Season Series 

Immaculata and Marymount split the season series with each team winning on their home court.

In their first meeting on January 18th at Alumnae Hall, Immaculata used a strong fourth quarter to hand Marymount their only conference loss of the season. Abigail Lentowski led the Macs with 19 points and seven rebounds. Reese Mullins scored 15 points and contributed three steals.

In their second match-up on February 18 at Converse Family Fieldhouse, Marymount pulled away in the second half to win 72-58. Marymount's Symantha Shakelford led all scorers with 24 points. Marymount had four players score in double figures. Abigail Lentowski led Immaculata with 14 points, and Morgan Falcone scored 13 points. 

Mighty Macs Talk 

The Immaculata women's basketball team advanced to the Atlantic East Semifinals by defeating Neumann 58-52 on Monday night. The Macs used a fourth-quarter surge to come from behind to defeat the Knights.

"We are excited that we are headed back to Atlantic East Semifinals" stated Head Coach Chrissy Rhine. "We will rely on our returners experience and leadership."

The Mighty Macs have been led by Abigail Lentowski who scored 19 points vs. Neuman on Monday night and has averaged 14.3 points per game this season, and Reese Mullins who scored 15 points on Monday night and has averaged 13.9 points per game this season. The Mighty Macs core of seniors Erin Kelly, Morgan Falcone, Meghan Ricker, and Kaitlyn Racobaldo will be counted on to provide strong play and leadership on the floor. 

Abigail Boyer, Mary deSimone, and Olivia Ettorre will provide strong contributions off the bench for the Mighty Macs.

Coach Rhine knows her team will need to be strong on both sides of the ball to have success tonight.

"Good decision-making and shot selection are two areas we are focused on" continued Rhine. "Defensively, we need intensity and communication on every possession."

Scouting Marymount 

Marymount enters tonight's Atlantic East Semifinal as the No. 1 overall seed in the Conference after finishing the season 11-1 in conference play. Their only conference loss came at the hands of Immaculata. 

Chandler Eddleton led Marymount scoring averaging 15.4 points per game and added a team-leading 202 rebounds and 48 steals. Symantha Shackelford averaged 14.2 points per game while pulling down 112 rebounds and generating 38 steals. Terra Dzambo and Kyla Treadwell will provide contributions for Marymount.

The winner of tonight's game will face the winner of the No. 3 Cabrini at No. 2 Gwynedd Mercy Semifinal on Saturday, February 25th in the Atlantic East Conference Championship Game.
