GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team lost to Gwynedd Mercy 3-0 in the Atlantic East Conference Quarterfinals. 

In the first set, Gwynedd Mercy jumped out to a quick 12-1. Immaculata broke the run on a combined block by Calissa Araujo and Mia Esposito. Calissa Araujo followed with a service ace, and she served a second point on a kill from Mia Esposito. Gwynedd Mercy would go on to win the first set 25-14. 

In set two, Immaculata built an early 4-0 lead as Emily Ettien served three consecutive points for the Mighty Macs. Alayah Phifer had a pair of kills in the first four points for the Macs. Gwynedd Mercy would use a pair of four-point runs on their way to taking set two 25-20. 

In set three, after falling behind 5-1 early, Immaculata battled back to even score at 6-6 on a service ace by Calissa Araujo. Gwynedd Mercy responded with a four-point run to take an 11-7 lead. Gwynedd Mercy would go on to close out the match 3-0 taking the third set 25-15. 

Immaculata was led offensively by Mia Esposito with seven kills, Ava Thorley with six kills, and Emma Hodgson and Alayah Phifer with five kills. Emily Ettien distributed 12 assists and added three service aces. Christina Lenzo added nine assists. Calissa Araujo had two service aces, and Karissa Herman had one service ace for the Mighty Macs.  

On the defensive side, Immaculata was led by Lily Burnette with 16 digs, Emily Ettien with seven digs, Karissa Herman with five digs, and Ava Thorley with four digs. Christina Lenzo and Dinah Stabinski each had two digs. Calissa Araujo had four blocks, Emma Hodgson had three blocks, and Ava Thorley added one block.

The Immaculata women's volleyball team has now completed their 2023 season. The Mighty Macs finish their season with a 12-12 overall record on the season. The Mighty Macs' 12 wins are the most by the team since the 2015 season when they went 14-8.
