IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team (3-2, 8-8) used a strong fourth quarter to erase an eight-point deficit entering the final quarter to defeat Marymount (4-1, 14-3) 61-54.
The Mighty Macs were led by
Abigail Lentowski with 19 points and seven rebounds and
Reese Mullins 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
Tessa Liberatoscioli scored seven points and contributed six rebounds.
Morgan Falcone scored five points and
Meghan Ricker scored four. All Immaculata players that played tonight scored points. Immaculata got 32 points off the bench tonight and scored 20 points off turnovers.
In the first quarter both teams struggled to score early as Marymount held a 4-0.
Abigail Lentowski scored on a layup with 5:46 remaining in the first quarter. Immaculata took their first lead in the game with 1:32 remaining when
Abigail Lentowski's layup put the Macs up 9-8. Marymount would lead 13-11 at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter Marymount built their lead to 10 points at 23-13 with 7:04 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata got consecutive three pointers from
Morgan Falcone and
Erin Kelly to get back with in four points.
Abigail Lentowski and
Reese Mullins each hit a pair of free throws late in the quarter as Mac pulled even at 25-25 at halftime.
In the third quarter Immaculata opened an early lead behind layups from
Reese Mullins and
Abigail Lentowski. Marymount would go on an eight-point run to take at 38-32 lead late in the quarter. Immaculata would break the run on a three-pointer from
Mary deSimone. Marymount would take a 44-36 led into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter the Macs quickly drew even behind three pointers from
Meghan Ricker and
Reese Mullins and a layup from
Abigail Lentowski forcing a Marymount timeout. Immaculata would take the lead for good when
Tessa Liberatoscioli pulled down a defensive rebound then took the ball coast to coast scoring on a driving layup to put the Macs up 50-48 with 3:48 remaining.
Abigail Lentowski followed with a three pointer of her own to put the Macs up by five. Liberatoscioli, Mullins and Lentowski each hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to close out the win 61-54.
The Immaculata women's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, January 21
st when they travel to play Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference game at 1:00 PM.
