SCRANTON, Pa. – The Immaculata women's tennis team dropped their Atlantic East Championship matchup on Saturday 5-1 against No. 1 Marywood. The Mighty Macs remain the lone team in Atlantic East Conference history to have appeared in every women's tennis championship match.
 
Annamarie Degnan and 
Pamela Kontaras earned the Macs' lone point on the day, winning their first doubles match 8-2. Meanwhile, 
Jessica Dougherty and 
Kelly O'Brien dropped their second doubles match 8-4 while 
Audrey Keen and 
Jenna Muttik fell in third doubles by the same score.
 
Degnan then dropped her first singles match 7-5, 6-1 while O'Brien and Keen lost their fourth and fifth singles matches with respective scores of 6-1, 7-5 and 6-0, 6-1.
 
Following the conclusion of the contest, the Atlantic East Conference honored Immaculata senior 
Jessica Dougherty as the women's tennis recipient of the Elite 20 Award. The Elite 20 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the finals site of each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships. Dougherty, an Education major, holds a 3.99 GPA.
 
With the Conference Championship loss, the Mighty Macs conclude their season with a 6-12 record overall while posting a 4-1 record in Atlantic East Conference play.
