Softball Splits Doubleheader with Centenary

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata softball team split its doubleheader against Centenary on Saturday. The Macs won game one 3-1 before losing game two 7-2.

Following a scoreless second inning, Centenary scored their lone goal of the game in the top of the third, tying the game at 1-1. Immaculata then responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs. After reaching on another leadoff single, Anthony scored her second run of the game on a throwing error by the pitcher on a fielder's choice for Kaitlyn Carter. After Carter moved to third base, she scored on a sacrifice fly from Jess Oldham, giving the Macs a 3-1 lead.

A walk from Carly Grandizio brought in Oldham as well as the Macs scored two runs on the inning.

The two-run third inning would be all of the production the Macs could muster, however, as they would only manage one more base hit for the remainder of the game as the Cyclones secured the series split in a 7-2 decision.
