NAPLES, Fl. – The Immaculata softball team dropped by sides of their doubleheader against Elms and Pitt-Bradford to kick off their spring break schedule on Wednesday. The Macs dropped game one against the Blazers 9-3 before losing to the Panthers 6-0.
The Macs scored early against the Blazers as leadoff hitter
Bryele Anthony reached base on a walk. After stealing two bases, Anthony was driven in on a sacrifice fly from
Jess Oldham.
Alyssa Daly later batted in two runners on a single to give the Macs a 3-0 lead.
The runs, however, would be all the Macs could muster against the Blazers. The Blazers, meanwhile, scored two runs in the bottom half of the first and second innings before scoring five runs in the bottom of the third. The Macs were unable to regain any traction on the game as they dropped game one 9-3.
Game two found the Macs being shutout by the Panthers. After two scoreless frames, the Panthers scored three runs in the top of the third to claim a 3-0 lead. Over the fourth and fifth innings, they would double their lead to 6-0.
Combining for five hits on the game, the Macs offense was left cold on the game as the Panthers claimed a 6-0 victory.
Carly Grandizio recorded two hits on the game for the Macs, reaching base three times as she went 2-for-2 with a walk.
The Macs will return to action tomorrow as they face RIT and Kenyon College.
