CAMDEN, N.J. – Offense was the name of the game as the Immaculata women's lacrosse team took down Rutgers-Camden 20-10 on Tuesday afternoon.
Tessa Liberatoscioli and
Jackie Murray led the Mighty Macs on the game, scoring five goals each.
After the Scarlet Raiders kicked off the game with a goal in the first two minutes, the Macs scored 10 straight goals spanning the next 15 minutes, taking the match into the second quarter with a 10-1 lead. Murray and Liberatoscioli both scored three goals on the stretch while
Liza Laxton scored two.
Kaitlyn Klitchko and
Courtney Floyd each tallied a goal as well on the rally.
Rutgers then scored four goals over the remainder of the second quarter, cutting into Immaculata's lead.
Ava Hoffman and Murray each scored during the stretch as Immaculata entered halftime with a 12-5 lead.
The Scarlet Raiders scored two goals in the first three minutes of the third quarter, cutting further into the Macs' lead. The Mighty Macs, however, responded with a 4-1 run over the remainder of the quarter, regaining a 16-8 lead going into the fourth quarter. Laxton, Klitchko, and Liberatoscioli each added a goal while
Ashley Hankin scored as well for the Macs.
The Mighty Macs then scored four straight goals to start the fourth quarter, shutting down any hope for the Scarlet Raiders of getting back into the contest.
Erynn Kriebel scored alongside Liberatoscioli, Murray, and Klitchko. The Raiders then added two goals at the end of the game, resulting in a 20-10 final score in favor of the Mighty Macs.
As a team, the Macs outshot the Raiders 40-20 on the day. Liberatoscioli and Murray each scored five goals for the Macs while Klitchko recorded three goals and two assists and Laxton earned three goals and one assist.
The Macs will return to action on Thursday, March 31
st, when they open Atlantic East Conference play against Cabrini.
