IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata softball team dropped their first two games of the 2022 season on Wednesday against Washington College. The Mighty Macs lost game one to the Shorewomen 7-1 before dropping game two 11-3.
The long ball accounted for four of the Shorewomen's runs on game one. A two-run homer in the top of the third kicked off day's scoring. The Shorewomen then added an additional run in the top of the fourth. Sophomore
Kristin Carter pitched 3.1 innings on the start, allowing three runs while striking out two batters.
A home run in the fifth and a rally in the sixth gave the Shorewomen a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, a one-out double from

Maggie Wilkinson and
Riece Onorato reached base on back-to-back singles.

A throwing error in the top of the third sparked a three-run rally for Washington as they scored three unearned runs on the inning to take a 3-2 lead over Immaculata. A similar story took place in the top of the fourth. Washington plated three additional runs on the inning, one earned, after an additional throwing error on the inning.
Maggie Wilkinson pitched four innings on the game for the Macs, allowing six runs (one earned) on nine hits and one walk.
Down 6-2, Wilkinson led off the bottom of the fourth with a single through the left side of the infield. Freshman

Elena Anglani as the Macs cut the Shorewomen's lead to 6-3.
Washington then came up to the plate and scored five runs in the top of the fifth, preventing any chance of an Immaculata comeback. After the fifth inning, the game was called due to darkness as Washington won game two 11-3.
