ALVERNIA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's lacrosse team dropped their high-scoring matchup against Alvernia on Wednesday afternoon.
Jackie Murray kicked off the game with a goal assisted by
Tessa Liberatoscioli in the first five minutes of the match. The Macs went on to score five goals in total on the quarter, leaving the quarter with a 5-4 advantage over the Golden Wolves. The Macs then outscored the Wolves 4-2 on the second quarter as Lieratoscioli picked up two goals, giving the Macs a 9-6 lead at the half.
The Golden Wolves spent the third quarter working their way back into the contest, leaving the quarter with the game tied 11-11. Murray scored two goals quickly to start the fourth quarter, giving the Macs a 13-11 lead, but the Golden Wolves then went on a 9-1 run on goals, claiming a 19-14 lead with two minutes remaining on the clock. Murray scored one additional goal with 17 seconds left, but the Macs were not able to come back as they dropped the match 19-15.
Murray led the Macs in the high-scoring affair, scoring seven goals overall, going 2-for-2 in free positions. Liberatoscioli also scored five goals on the game while adding two assists.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Susquehanna.
