IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata women's lacrosse team earned their first victory of the season on Saturday when they defeated Eastern 18-6. The Mighty Macs now improve to a 1-1 record on the season as the Eagles start their season 0-1.
The Macs jumped off to a quick start in the first quarter, scoring six goals to the Eagles' one on the quarter.
Liza Laxton scored the first two goals for the Macs while
Jackie Murray,
Kaitlyn Klitchko,
Maddy Terry, and
Ashley Hankin each scored as well.
Up 6-1 to start the second quarter, the Mighty Macs matched their first quarter production with six additional goals in the second frame. Klitchko tallied two goals in the second quarter. Meanwhile,
Ashley Hankin and
Theresa Arata each scored a goal while Laxton and Murray each tallied an additional goal.
The Macs eased up during the second half, scoring six goals in total on the half. The Eagles scored two gaols in the second half while
Erynn Kriebel, Terry, and Laxton each scored. Up 15-4 heading into the fourth quarter, Klitchko scored twice and Murray scored her third of the day to secure the Macs' victory as they won 18-6.
Klitchko led the Macs with five goals scored on the day while adding one assist. Laxton led the team with eight points overall, scoring four goals and adding four assists as well for the Macs.
Freshman goalkeeper
Ashley Finkbiner, meanwhile, recorded five saves on her way to her first career win.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Swarthmore for a 7:00 P.M. contest.
