IMMACULATA, Pa. – Morgan Falcone recorded her first career double-double, leading the Macs as they defeated Centenary 62-43 in their Atlantic East Quarterfinal matchup on Monday evening. The Mighty Macs now advance to the Atlantic East Semifinals where they will host Cabrini on Wednesday, February 23
rd.
The Cyclones took the early lead in the contest, taking a 6-2 lead over the Mighty Macs just over three minutes into the contest. Over the next few minutes, the Macs began to take away from the Cyclones' lead until a layup from
Abigail Lentowski gave the Macs the lead at 9-8. The Macs would score six more points on the first quarter, leaving the quarter with a 15-10 advantage over the Cyclones.
The Mighty Macs went on a 7-0 run to start the second quarter as
Morgan Falcone kicked off the quarter with a three-pointer. On the quarter, the Mighty Macs kept the Cyclones to four points while dropping 21 to gain a 36-14 lead at the half.
Reese Mullins and
Abigail Lentowski led the Macs on the first half with eight points each.
Morgan Falcone, meanwhile, led the Macs with six rebounds and four assists while
Tessa Liberatoscioli recorded two steals and two blocked shots. As a team, the Macs shot 14-for-37 (37.8%) from the field while making five of seven free throw opportunities on the half.
With a 22-point lead coming out of the half, the Macs played a defensive game to start the third quarter, matching the Cyclones 8-8 through the first seven minutes of the third quarter. The Cyclones, however, used the final three minutes of the quarter to cut into the Macs' lead with a 10-3 run, making the score 47-32 in favor of the Macs at the end of the third quarter.
Immaculata quickly erased any gains Centenary earned in the first three minutes of the fourt quarter as
Theresa Kearney and
Morgan Falcone each scored five points in a 10-0 run for Immaculata. Centenary outscored Immaculata 11-5 throughout the rest of regulation but failed to comeback as Immaculata came out victorious 62-43.
Falcone led the Macs defensively on the night with 10 rebounds, also scoring 10 points in the process as she earned her first career double-double.
Abigail Lentowski, meanwhile, led the Macs offensively on the night, scoring 14 points while adding seven rebounds.
Reese Mullins and
Theresa Kearney also reached double-digits in points on the night with 11 points and 10 points respectively.
The Mighty Macs will return to Alumnae Hall on Wednesday, February 23
