ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team dropped their Atlantic East Conference Quarterfinal match to 1-0 on Monday night to Neumann. Immaculata concludes their season with an overall record of 3-13-2.
In the first half, the game remained scoreless until the 28th minute when Neumann scored on a long high shot that just eluded goalkeeper Emily Guthier reach to give Neumann the 1-0 lead. Rachel McNamee, Nicole Winouski, and Jessica Gindle all put shots on goal for the Macs as the game went to half-time with Neumann holding the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Rachel McNamee and Nicole Winouski each put shots on goal that forced the Neumann goalkeeper to make saves. With two minutes remaining in the match, Rachel McNamee took a shot that looked like it might tie the game, but the ball just drifted wide of the goal. Neumann was able to hold on to take the game 1-0.
Goalkeeper Emily Guthier, who this evening was named Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for a second time this season, was strong in the goal for the Macs. Though she was created with only two saves, Guthier commanded the penalty area and made multiple punchouts battling through a wall of Neumann players on corner kicks.
Immaculata outshot Neumann 10-8 during the match.
