Box Score 2 CAMDEN, NJ – Looking to bounce back from a difficult loss at the hands of Cabrini on Saturday afternoon, the Immaculata University women's volleyball team took to the floor today for a tri-match vs Rutgers-Camden and Moravian. Unfortunately, the Macs did not get the results they were hoping for as they dropped each match by a final of 3-0.
In the first match of the day against Rutgers-Camden, Immaculata and Rutgers-Camden traded runs and the score was 19-19 in the first set. Rutgers-Camden seized an opportunity to make a 6-0 run to win the first set 25-19. In the second set started out with both teams exchanging points. With the score tied 5-5, Rutgers-Camden used a four-point run to open a lead they would hold onto for the remainder of the set, taking set two 25-17. In the third set the teams exchanged leads until the score got to 9-9. Rutgers-Camden would go on a six-point run to take command of the set and closed out the match winning set three 25-15.
In the Rutgers-Camden match Immaculata was led by
Mia Esposito with eight kills, and
Isabelle Davis with six kills.
Emily Ettien registered 24 assists, and
Lily Burnette had 21 digs.
In the second match of the day vs. Moravian, the Macs and Greyhounds battled through a tight first set that featured six ties. With the score tied at 23-23, Moravian was able to get the two points to take the first set 25-23. The second set saw Moravian jump out to a quick 7-0 lead. Immaculata was never able to rally back into the set, and Moravian took set two 25-10. The third set began competitive like the first set, and Immaculata held an 11-10 lead. Moravian would use a couple of three-point runs to close out the match winning set three 25-15.
In this match, Immaculata was led by
Ava Thorley with eight kills,
Isabelle Davis with seven kills, and
Mia Esposito with six kills.
Emily Ettien contributed 20 assists, and
Lily Burnette led the Macs with 23 digs
Immaculata women's volleyball is back in action on Saturday, October 22
nd when they visit Centenary University for an Atlantic East Conference match at 1:00 PM.
