CAMDEN, N.J. - The Immaculata women's volleyball team dropped their away match against Rutgers-Camden on Friday night 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-16). The Mighty Macs drop to 1-2 on the season while the Raptors improve to 4-1.
Immaculata was in the hole quickly in the first set as Rutgers-Camden went on an 11-point run out of the gate. The Mighty Macs would not be able to recover from the early deficit, eventually losing the set 25-15. Junior McKenna Ryan and sophomore
Isabella Ridgell each recorded two service aces for the Mighty Macs in set one.
The Raptors scored three points at the beginning of set two to put the Mighty Macs in an early hole. For the remainder of the set, the Raptors and Mighty Macs went toe-to-toe with each other with the Rapots holding onto their early lead, eventually winning the set 25-20. Leading the way for the Mighty Macs in set two was junior
Isabelle Davis, who recorded four kills on the set.
With sophomore
Ava Thorley serving, the Mighty Macs took their first lead of the match in set three. Down 3-1, the Mighty Macs went on a five-point rally to take a 6-3 lead. The Raptors later tied the match back up at 11-11 before going on a seven-point rally to take an 18-11 lead, eventually leading to their 25-16 victory in set three.
The Mighty Macs were led offensively by
Isabella Ridgell who earned eight kills and three service aces on the day.
Isabelle Davis contributed offensively with seven kills while leading the Macs defensively with 11 digs. Sophomore
Emily Ettien also led Immaculata with 15 assists on the day.
Immaculata will next face off against Bryn Mawr on Tuesday, September 14
th. The Mighty Macs' match with the Owls is scheduled to start at 6:30 P.M. in Alumnae Hall.
