ARLINGTON, Va. – The Immaculata Mighty Macs men's lacrosse team (3-6, 2-4 AEC) dropped their Atlantic East Conference Quarterfinal matchup against the Marymount Saints (5-3, 3-2 AEC) on Saturday afternoon 19-6.
The Saints got on the board quickly, scoring 21 seconds into the game to take an early 1-0 lead. Marymount maintained control for most of the first quarter, scoring six goals in total.
The Mighty Macs broke the ice with two minutes remaining in the first quarter as
Jason Willoughby scored on an assist from
Elijah Sims.
One minute and 13 seconds into the second quarter,
Mac Frayler found the back of the net for the Mighty Macs, assisted by
Jackson Fonseca-Webb, as the Mighty Macs continued to cut into the Saints' lead, 6-2.
Marymount scored with 12:17 remaining in the quarter, increasing their lead to 7-2. They then scored four minutes later at 8:33 to increase their lead to 8-2.
Only 23 seconds later, with a man-up,
Sean Evans scored on an assist from
Anthony Inserra.
Bobby Bausman then won the face-off for the Mighty Macs and charged downfield. Bausman set Evans up for his second goal in 20 seconds as the Mighty Macs scored to make it an 8-4 game.
Marymount scored two additional goals in the second quarter as they ended the first half with a 10-4 lead over Immaculata.
51 seconds into the third quarter, Marymount scored, increasing their lead to 11-4. The Saints went on to score two more goals in the next five minutes of action before
Steven Long scored for the Mighty Macs with 7:05 remaining in the quarter.
Marymount increased their lead by another four goals over a seven-minute period spanning the third and fourth quarters. The Mighty Macs found themselves down 17-5 with 10:39 to go in the fourth quarter.
Evans scored his third goal of the day with 6:45 remaining in the fourth quarter. Marymount, however, would score two more goals in the final six minutes as Immaculata fell to Marymout 19-6.
Bausman recorded a game-leading ten ground balls while also recording an assist and two shots. Evans, meanwhile, led the Mighty Macs offensively with three goals on nine shots.
The Mighty Macs conclude their season with a 3-6 record (2-4 AEC).
