Women's Volleyball Falls to Cedar Crest in Home Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday evening against Cedar Crest on Tuesday evening. Immaculata battled throughout and all three sets were tightly contested throughout but it was Cedar Crest who emerged victorious by a final of 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-18).

Cedar Crest opened the match on an 8-0 run to claim an early first set lead before Immaculata countered with a 13-3 run to claim a 13-11 lead in the middle stages of first set, which prompted a Cedar Crest timeout. Out of the timeout, Immaculata continued to play well to stretch its lead to 21-14 before Cedar Crest answered with a 7-0 to even the match at 21-21. Following the timeout, Cedar Crest outscored its hosts 4-1 over the final points of the opening game to claim a 1-0 lead in the match.

After trading points through much of the early going in the second set, Immaculata surged out to an 11-6 lead in the early stages of the set. Immaculata continued to hold off Cedar Crest for much of the second set as the Macs led 18-15 in the late stages of the second set. Immaculata continued to lead late into the set but it was a late run by Cedar Crest, which enabled the Falcons to claim a 25-23 second set victory and 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set, Cedar Crest jumped out to an early lead to hold a 17-12 advantage late in the third set. The visiting Falcons used this momentum to hold off a Mighty Mac comeback attempt to take the third set 25-18 and the match by a final of 3-0.

MJ Cadman led the Macs in kills with six while Jade Rindock led the team in blocks with two on the evening.

Emily Ettien ended the night with the team lead in both aces (four) and assists (20) while McKenna Ryan registered 19 digs to lead a pair of Macs in double figures in this category as Sara Desmond ended the match with 12 digs of her own in the setback.
